Woohoo, woke up at 7am and it wasn't raining! Drove to Theale Golf Club and although the ground was pretty wet and a cold wind was blowing about 20 people turned up for a 3 ball texas scamble competition. John and Nick were my team members, and we had a great laugh and played some good golf as well which considering the dampness of the course we were very happy about. I left before the last group was in so don't know our final position - although I wasn't worried about that today. I was just happy to be playing...
Woke up again to rain! I'm not too bothered about today's weather but I really hope tomorrow is clear as I want to play in the New Years Eve Texas Scramble at Theale Golf Club. The Christmas Eve Scramble was canceled due to the snow so I really hope tomorrows goes ahead. Texas scramble comps are always a really good laugh, the teams are also drawn out of a hat so you get to play with people who you wouldn't usually go around with.
Last night I spent some time over on The Sand Trap forum. There are quite a number...
Just before Christmas I fancied a break from the usual computer programming technical books I usually read and picked up 'Dream On' from my bookshelf. I'd ordered it a while ago as I'd read about John Richardson's challenge in Golf Monthly. This is a story for anybody who played golf as a youngster but then discovered alcohol and the opposite sex and got side tracked from the golfing greatness their teenage minds thought they could achieve!
Johns challenge was to see if he could play 18 holes in level par within 12 months. At the start of the challenge he was...
You may be wondering what happened to day 1! Well I only decided this morning that it would be a good idea to do a daily update on how much I've been practicing and other fitness activities to help me see how good I can get in 2010. Also I am cheating a bit by starting in 2009, but it's only a few days! :-)
The weather here in the UK has been horrible over Christmas. I woke today to find it lashing down with rain meaning no chance of getting out on the course. Todays rain itself isn't the problem,...
There is one question my family have been asking me time and time again over the past week while being at home for Christmas 'What about what Tiger Woods has been up to?!'
They know I like watching Tiger Woods play and expect me to start cursing him and calling him all the names under the sun for what has apparently happened so they are quite surprised when I reply,
"He's still a great golfer, and I can't wait for him to return".
I first found out about Tiger Woods because he is a phenomenal golfer. Whatever he gets up to in his...
Well today is a big landmark.
1, I've started this site GolfTribe.com
2, I headed back to the driving range
I've only played golf once in the last three months. Unfortunately this one time was six weeks ago and I managed to hurt my back which I imagine is down to being out of condition and not warming up properly. During the round I didn't feel anything, but the next day I was in agony with the bottom of my back being really painful. I couldn't lean down to tie my shoe laces never mind swing a golf club! This is the...
