Yesterday I had a lesson with Neal over at Sandford Springs. I thought I had been swinging and hitting the ball quite well, but the video we recorded doesn't look to good to me!

I am over swinging - still, and I also think I am stooped over the ball.
I went to Leaderboard driving range today and hit quite a lot of balls. To stop the over swinging I need to be able to feel and understand where the club is in my back swing. To help with this I use my driver, 3 hybrid, 7 iron and PW to do 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 swings - each time taking a couple of slow practice swings and really paying attention to where the club is in relation to my body. I think this process is going to take quite a while as I have been over swinging for the last 2.5 year - but I really want to get this sorted out before switching to anything else.
Having spent a little time clearing my office today I found something I bought a while ago to check I wasn't standing too close to the ball. A problem I seem to have had since starting to play 2 years ago. The practice aid is meant to help with alignment but I stuck some blank white labels on it so I could mark out certain points that would make sure I was standing the correct distance from the ball for a variety of clubs. Having checked this today I've found I have gone back to standing too close - I guess this would explain why I feel like I am stooped over the ball so much in the video. Once I realised this I headed to the garden and hit a few more balls into the practice net and the ball strikes felt great. Hopefully tomorrow the course at Theale Golf Club will be open. It'll be muddy for sure - but that doesn't matter. It'll just be nice to get outside in the fresh air.
I managed to get to the gym today also for an hour of cardio work. I am really enjoying exercising right now, can't believe what a lazy waster I have been over the past 2 years!
