No longer counting range balls

You'll probably have noticed that I have not been blogging each day this week. Since reading The Game Before The Game I have realised that quality is much more important than quantity. I knew this before, but the book really drilled it home. Keeping count of how many balls I hit at the range and hours spent in the gym for a year would have been fun but it didn't really have any purpose. I suppose I had it in my head at the start of the year that I'd have to hit thousands of range balls and spend hours in the gym to get to where I want to. I've no doubt it is going to take a lot of hard work and effort, but it is better to make sure every practice ball has a purpose rather than just bashing balls until my hands hurt. It doesn't help that you often read golf pro's saying this is what they did when they were younger and even still do now. You need to practice of course, but you need to practice on something specific rather than just practicing for practice sake.

Trust me, I've been down the range very often this week - I'll update you tomorrow after another 18 holes on what I have been up to and how things are progressing.
